Announcing our volunteering programs for 2021

Updated: Dec 23, 2020

Volunteering

Do you ever wonder how generous Americans are with their time? According to research done in the past few years approximately:

  • 75.6 million Americans volunteered

  • Representing 27.9% of U.S. residents

  • For a total of 10 billion hours of service

  • Representing an estimated value of $200 billion

With many charities as ours The ABBM Foundation reporting that need and use volunteers, it is hard to imagine where the philanthropic community would be today if it wasn't for the help of these altruistic individuals. Volunteers perform a variety of tasks for charities. For example, a volunteer might stuff envelopes, read stories to children at hospitals, play time with children at hospitals, feed animals, tutor children, build houses, give manicures, give haircuts, counsel those in crisis, sell tickets or just answer the phone. At the highest levels, volunteers serve on the board of directors and are charged with the crucial task of governing the organization. At the ABBMF we have many opportunities for you to volunteer throughout the year. We would love and appreciate it if you are looking for ways to spread love and kindness to the less fortunate.

Think about joining our team and volunteering this coming year 2021. We have a vast of

opportunities for you to serve. Thus, it is a good idea to first conduct a self-assessment to ascertain your personal goals before you reach out to us. Please be sure you can answer the following questions:

  • How much time can I realistically give in a week, month or year?

  • What days of the week and time of day am I available to volunteer?

  • What unique talents do I possess that would help this charity achieve its mission?

  • What tasks am I unable or not willing to do?

  • What do I hope to gain from the experience?

  • Do I want to develop a new skill set that would be transferable to the workplace?

  • Do I want to meet new people with similar interests?

  • Do I just want the gratifying feeling of helping?

After you have processed the above questions we would ask that you would contact us regarding volunteer positions available to fit your criteria/match. Then, it is important that you make a personal commitment to be there for our organization. A reliable volunteer with a strong work ethic can go a long way towards helping a charity meet its goals.

Remember that our organization will make an investment in you and is depending on you to produce a return. Consider your needs before volunteering. The closer the match, the more satisfying and meaningful your volunteer experience will be at the ABBM Foundation.
